If the Moon Wrote and Ode to Your Toes
…this is an ode to your toes.
and the way they turn cold nights to cozy.
they run here and there,
always ready in pairs
to jump rope and kick box and
sneak up the stairs.
they chase after the best
but we all need a rest, and you know in the end
no one’s fooled.
by the tickles and giggles and freedom
to wiggle past situations and questions
and rules.
in this game, that’s just
how it goes:
your toes.
