these good people will dictate
what you can and can’t smoke.

gonna put you to bed nice and early
moon. and sing till you fall asleep.
leave a kiss on your forehead, shut off the lights
and wish you the sweetest of dreams.

gonna mat you and frame you and hang you up
moon. then sit here and admire
how you brighten the room.

gonna plug you right into my headphones
moon. turn the volume way past 10.
gonna drown out the twitterin chatterbox mix
and listen to you instead.

you’ve got us on pins and needles
moon. and buttons and bobbins and looms.
and piping and cording and pattern
weights. and gussets and gathers and
spools.

and we’re wonderin what
in the world we should do
with such silly notions of you.

caught up with some leapin lounge lizards
moon. they sing, kick and dance.
one plays a bassoon.

they all look quite charming. (they’re nobody’s
fool.) so we’ll sit here. and watch them.
